My passion for baking started at a young age. Every weekend my grandmother would bake her favorite vanilla cake with chocolate frosting. She then would let me and my siblings help in the process. Learning how to make cakes and desserts from my grandmother was a great experience. It gave me the drive and motivation to make custom cakes and other baked goods for my family and friends. Eventually I decided to open up my own cake bakery in Philadelphia.
Even though I had a passion for baking, I also had a passion for helping people. I enrolled in nursing school, became a Licensed Practical Nurse and have been working as a nurse for over 20 years.
As a nurse, helping patients is my top priority, but my passion for baking never died. I decided to enroll in the Art Institute of Philadelphia for pastry art in 2007. The Art Institute helped enhance my creativity for the art of baking and in 2011, I created Cherry’s Baking Company.
Initially, Cherry’s Baking Company only specialized in gourmet cheesecakes. After a few years I decided that specializing in a variety of desserts like birthday cakes, baby shower cakes, and fruit cobblers and so on would benefit my customers.
In 2018 Cherry’s Baking Company won First prize in the Dessert category at the Entrepreneur Works Taste of Success Food Fight Challenge for its Blueberry Lime Crumble Cheesecake. Plus, my Brownie Cheesecake was featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer's 2021 Best Brownies in Philly article! I've just relocated, and am excited to make my new home of Delaware a little sweeter.
To this day I strive to create cakes and desserts that make my customers smile and dance.
